Just as you will have looked forward to your visit to the UK with a mixture of apprehension and excitement, so you will think about returning home in just the same way. You will probably be glad to be able to go back home to your family and friends and there may be aspects of life at home that you will have really missed and look forward to enjoying again. On the other hand, you're leaving behind another part of your life. Some students feel that just as they are beginning to really adjust and integrate into their new culture and life, they have to turn around and come home.

Be patient with yourself. It's going to take time to readjust to your 'old' life and loved ones. Conversely, it may take your loved ones time to readjust to you. Don't expect everything and everyone at home to have remained the same. You will seem different to the people at home - perhaps more worldly or sophisticated. Chances are you'll be more analytical, perhaps even critical of the "status quo" because you've been exposed to new knowledge, new rituals and new traditions. Your changes may intimidate your friends or family at first, but chances are they'll be both supportive and excited to hear about your adventure!
